The Feng Shui Bagua class (Fee: $15)

This class introduces the Five Elements (which are also used in acupuncture) and their application to furnishings and landscapes. The yin/yang symbol is explained, showing its evolution into the bagua map, which is a grid that lies over the floor plan. Each area corresponds to an aspect of life. The orientation of the grid is based on the door, which is called the Mouth of Chi. The lecture shows how to remedy the problems created by uniquely-shaped houses. These problems are called such things as Missing Areas or Meat-Cleaver Homes. The problems are most severe when they affect the two power corners, Wealth and Relationship. These two rear corners are discussed in depth, as is the power of color. Water features, plants, and clutter reduction are explained, as well as eliminating conflicting energy from the home, and how single people can attract relationships. The other bagua areas are Wisdom, Reputation, Career, Helpful People, Creativity and Children. The word ba means eight; the word gua means area. Bagua literally means eight areas around the room. No pre-registration is required.

Bedroom Feng Shui talk, followed by book signing

According to feng shui, the bedroom is the most important room and the bed is the most important object in the home. The most frequent question I’m asked is where to put the bed. The short answer is to put it so you can easily see the door from the bed. But there are many other factors that influence the placement, such as the location of windows and bathrooms. This talk will also address various details, such as color, texture, lighting, and artwork, that help a bedroom support sound sleep. There will be time for questions and comments. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go to the Friends of the Library.
